From your Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, we head to the Toconao village, crossing a flat plain, where the Licancabur Volcano watches you from afar. Once in Toconao, stop at the San Lucas Church, made of mud and straw, with its typical tower and bell built in 1641. Toconao’s fresh waters allow this oasis to grow all kinds of fruit. The fields are cultivated according to the traditional Pre-Hispanic pattern of irregularly-shaped small patches watered by a community irrigation system.
