Overview
Chachagua is a Costa Rica Rainforest hotel located inside the privately owned and maintained rain forest of Chachagua contiguous to the International Children’s Rain Forest, which in turn is neighbor to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.
This means that Chachagua Rain Forest Costa Rica, is part of a large protected area and helps provide habitat for many of the threatened inhabitants of the rain forest such as tapir, jaguar, ocelot, and peccaries.

Among the many still common species of animals that are residents of the forest at Chachagua the interested observer will likely see white-faced monkeys, keel-billed toucans, blue morpho butterflies, bright red poison-dart frogs, and much, much more.
CHACHAGUA is more than just another nature eco-hotel. Certainly the plants and animals that can be encountered along the forest trails will thrill even the most ardent nature lover. But this hotel offers much more. Part of the property is still maintained as a working ranch and visitors will be able to see a variety of fruits and vegetables such as pineapple, papaya, manioc, squashes, and black beans growing right on the farm. Beef, poultry, eggs, milk, and cheese are all also produced on the ranch. Who knows, you might even pick part of your own breakfast!
Cattle and horses are part of the ranch, too. Thus the restaurant has been designed overlooking a riding ring so that the guests can enjoy their morning coffee while admiring expert horsemen putting the local mounts through their paces. And of course, horses are available for guest who wish to see the scenic surroundings from the vantage point of a saddle.
Chachagua rainforest hotel is a wonderful base of operations for seeing the many fascinating attractions of the San Carlos region which include the majestic Arenal Volcano, the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, the Venado Caverns, freshwater fishing and windsurfing on Lake Arenal, white water rafting on the Peñas Blancas River, and the therapeutic benefits of varuios hot springs in the area.
